Chenega Services & Federal Solutions, LLC, a Chenega Professional Services' company, is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team of IT experts at the Federal Housing Finance Agency's (FHFA) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). As a member of our data science team, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable and efficient data pipelines to support business requirements and analytics.   • Design, Build, and Maintain Data Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain scalable and efficient data pipelines to ingest, process, and store data from various sources.
  • Develop ETL Processes: Develop ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is properly cleaned, transformed, and integrated for analysis.
  • Collaborate with Data Architects: Collaborate with data architects to design and implement data models and schemas that support business requirements and analytics.
  • Optimize Database Performance: Manage and optimize databases, including relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases, to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability.
  • Implement Data Quality Checks: Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Integrate Data from Various Sources: Integrate data from various internal and external sources, including APIs, third-party services, and legacy systems.
  • Monitor Data Pipeline Performance: Monitor data pipeline performance and address issues related to data ingestion, processing, and storage.
  • Implement Data Security Measures: Implement data security measures to protect sensitive and critical data from unauthorized access and breaches.
  • Maintain Comprehensive Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of data pipelines, workflows, data models, and processes.
  • Prepare Reports: Prepare and present reports on data engineering projects, performance metrics, and improvements to management and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate Data Engineering Tools: Evaluate and recommend data engineering tools, technologies, and platforms to support the organization's data strategy.
  • Stay Informed about Emerging Trends: Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and incorporate relevant innovations.Qualifications
    • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field, or equivalent experience as a senior IT professional.
    • Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and database management, including relational (SQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) databases.
    • Familiarity with cloud-based data engineering tools and their integration with on-premises infrastructure.
    • Knowledge of data governance best practices to manage data standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain detailed documentation of data-related activities.
    • Possess excellent communication skills, be able to work collaboratively with other teams, and stay current with advancements in data science and engineering technologies.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
      • Agility in adapting to changing priorities: The ability to update/pivot from a given plan in order to refocus resources elsewhere as needed.
      • Collaborative mindset: Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, IT professionals, and stakeholders.
