DATA CONTENT SPECIALIST
location: Arlington, VA
No. of positions: 2
Term: 3 months contract-hire
Rate: 35-40/hr
Salary upon conversion: 70K max.
Summary:
Create, document, and communicate detailed definitions OF CLIENTS
data. Collaborate with users of CLIENTS data (internal and
external) to validate definitions are current, consistent, and
correct. Trace, consult and document data sources, transforms,
purge, and usage rules. Work closely with IS, Product Managers, and
Sales team to make definition information available and clarify as
needed to create best solutions for customers.
? Document detailed definitions, sources, and uses
? Implement, load, and maintain definitions in metadata repository
and data access tools (Teradata, Cognos, etc.)
?
? Design, implement, and deliver presentations to educate users how
to access and use data definitions and tools and considerations
when implementing data into products (for customer use)
?
? Consult with IS and others to evaluate, select, and maintain
metadata management tools and utilities for broad use
?
? Investigate with EIM team data anomalies where definition
(domain, scope, etc.) does not match actual data and collaborate on
corrective action
?
? Responsible to document and support the data, so that it can be
leveraged as an asset for Products and Solutions delivered to
customers. The contribution from this position will significantly
increase the consistency and efficiency use of data both internally
and for customers
? Ability to create clear, unambiguous business and technical
definitions
Technical knowledge and advanced skills as a user of metadata
management tools and user data-access tools
General knowledge of master data management techniques and data
governance principles
ETL understanding to trace data to source and document ETL
processes and transforms
Basic SQL knowledge required to query data and validate against
definitions and related information (i.e. domain)
General knowledge of airline distribution, ticketing, and
settlement data and processes (BIG PLUS)
Understanding of business rules associated with data sourcing,
usage, or creation
Project leadership skills required to complete collaborative
projects across non-EIM cross-functional teams
Ability to determine outliers in data instances as acceptable
exceptions and not material for data correction project
Knowledge of tools and data sufficient to complete analysis of data
to validate sources, definition, or usage
Must have a technical or associate degree in a technical field,
with preference to Bachelor?s degree.
1-3 years of metadata experience;
Airline ticketing and distribution knowledge a plus.
3-5 years of experience in airline industry or working with airline
data preferred.
