THE HIGH LEVEL
Iron Bow Technologies is seeking an experienced Technical Trainer to support an existing, long-time Federal Government customer, the Department of Justice (DOJ). Our Trainer will lead a team of Trainers and Technical Writers responsible for producing quality products that are essential to our DOJ customer needs. The right person for this position will have a passion for positive customer experiences and welcome an opportunity to support a lead role that provides them with experiences and skills that will help to propel their career. The right candidate will be our champion to ensure tasks are performed to meet our quality standards and the needs of the customer. The person we seek will be the role model for the team, able to express what makes a quality deliverable, and assist with producing deliverables. This position requires onsite work at the customer site in Washington, DC. Once acclimated into the program, there may be an opportunity to move to a hybrid schedule.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The Technical Trainer provides daily oversight and guidance to team members supporting a variety of tasks related to training and technical writing. Our candidate will coordinate tasking and provide oversight to ensure the staff stay productive and remain cognizant of the expected and planned timelines. We seek a candidate who will collaborate with multiple areas of our overall team, as well as with the DOJ customers, to ensure requirements are clear and can be successfully accomplished. Training venues include general application training of the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, training on Department-specific applications, and new hire training in one-on-one settings or classroom based, either in person or virtual. Responsibilities include:

  • Understanding our client's business needs and continually striving to meet these needs, including the ability to translate technical documentation into content that can be more easily understood by a non-technical person.
  • Planning, execution, and coordination of activities associated with assigned tasks.
  • Create, update, and maintain training templates and documentation standards.
  • Support tasks that include developing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), creation of brochures, quick help guides, best practice tips, how-to guides, knowledge articles, and other publication sources that provide guidelines on commonly used products and processes.
  • Develop curriculums for application and hardware training, and the documentation needed to support the delivery of the training, along with the training schedule, while ensuring the team is meeting the needs of the end user.
  • Ensure technical accuracy of developed and presented products.
  • Adhere to accessibility compliance guidelines from Rehabilitation Act (Section 508).
  • Maintain the SharePoint training documents repository.
  • Maintain and report on participant training records.
  • Monitor team member performance, giving praise for jobs well done, and provide constructive feedback for areas that may need improvement.
    WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
    • A minimum of 6 years of experience in developing training material and training delivery.
    • Experience in technical writing, instructional design, and following standards.
    • Proficient in the MS Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and SharePoint.
    • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of project team and with Leadership.
    • Experience training complex and large-enterprise infrastructure environments is preferred.
    • A keen eye for attention to detail and the drive to focus on all tasks, no matter how small, to ensure accuracy of the developed products prior to release - and the drive to instill this skill across the team.
    • It would be welcomed if you bring experience/understanding of Agile methodologies.
    • Ability to hold/maintain an active Secret clearance - an existing clearance is preferred, will also consider a candidate who does not hold but is confident they can obtain.
    • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant discipline.
    • Certifications requirements are: CCSP (Certified Customer Service Professional) and CPTM (Certified Professional in Training Management) - have certs coming in or commit to obtaining within 6-months of hire.
      TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
      This position requires candidates based in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area so that they are accessible to multiple DC-area locations. There are no travel requirements outside the DC metro area.
