Located in the CityGate Corporate Center, it will also be the home to numerous WellSpan specialty practices. We invite you to learn more and join a team focused on expanding accessible care to our neighbors in Lancaster.General SummaryProvides patient care and professional nursing services in pre-, intra- and postoperative areas, normally in an outpatient setting. Assists physicians during operative procedures and in providing care to patients. Instructs patients and their families in appropriate care.Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions and develops individual care plans for patients.Prepares the operating room for cases by setting up table, instruments and supplies according to type of case.Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies.Prepares patients preoperatively for surgical procedures.Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.Assists in maintaining correct count of instruments, sutures and sponges.Assists in patient care related activities such as starting IV solutions and inserting tubes.Administers postoperative care by monitoring status and observing for postoperative complications.Provides health care instruction/education to patient and family members.Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties.Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.Variation of duties may result based on the assigned customer care unit(s). This may include differences in the specific clinical skills required of the RN. Unit based skill lists outline expectations beyond the house wide RN requirements. SYS-NURS-L Nursing Education Requirements Policy outlines current certification(s) required for specific areas of nursing practice and is considered to be part of the job description.In addition to requirements specified in the license and certification section below, current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice is required.Current certification may be required for the following areas of nursing practice:Emergency Care Center ACLS, PALSIntensive Care Center & MSCC Lead ACLS, PALSL&D ACLS, NRP, - Experienced L&D nurses will obtain within 6 months and new L&D nurses will obtain at 1 year of experienceNICU NRPPEDS PALSPCC/PACU/ENDO ACLS, PALSProcedural ACLSCommon Expectations:Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
