qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Washington, Washington DC, 20007
About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Job Specialty:
Transplant ICU Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 4x12-Hour (7:00
PM - 7:30 AM); Day 4x12-Hour (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM); Rotating shifts
may vary. Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2
years required; must have 1 prior travel assignment License: Must
have appropriate state licensure prior to start date
Certifications: Required - ACLS and BLS; Preferred - BSN Must-Have:
- Experience with Cerner - Skills in managing dysrhythmias and
multi-system organ failure - Proficiency with IV insulin protocols,
GI surgery, renal failure, IV therapy - CVA/Acute Stroke
management, external ventricular drains, and more - Ability to work
with complex patient diagnoses including post-transplant and
multi-system organ failure Job Description: - Work in a transplant
ICU with responsibilities including patient care for
post-transplant cases (liver, kidney/pancreas, small intestine,
islet cell, multi-visceral) - Manage cases of ESLD, ESRD,
thoracic/abdominal/ENT/Flaps/general surgery, sepsis, and
pre-transplant hepatology patients - Float within units of
equivalent or lower acuity as required - Contact with COVID-19
patients possible - Flexibility in rotating between day and night
shifts, sometimes within the same week - Teaching hospital
environment with total staffed beds of 402 - Required to complete a
flu vaccine with no exemptions Note: Pre-approved time off is
decided on a case-by-case basis, factoring unit needs, with
travelers scheduled after permanent and PRN staff requests.
Orientation includes 28 hours. Applicants are expected to have a
flu vaccine and will undergo training on relevant modules. Modules
must be completed pre-start, averaging 12 hours, potentially during
orientation, recorded through transcripts. Orientation is conducted
for 28 hours. This role demands exceptional care in infection
prevention, isolation precautions, use of PPE, phlebotomy, and
more, alongside proficiency in patient management
post-neurosurgery, managing surgical wounds, and various emergency
