.Position SummaryThis is a role within Business Development Search
and Evaluation. The ideal candidate will possess strong scientific
expertise, broad drug development experience, and core leadership
qualities.A deep understanding of drug discovery, development, and
regulatory processes is required, as the candidate will lead both
scouting activities and evaluation/diligence of novel therapeutic
opportunities for both licensing and M&A, while supporting
transactional activities. Within BMS, the candidate is required to
have strong interpersonal skills and work with multiple internal
stakeholders to drive and support highly visible and time-sensitive
business development projects. Furthermore, the candidate will be
able to develop and deliver scientific, clinical, technical, and
commercial assessments and evaluations to the relevant BMS
governance bodies.Key Responsibilities
- Lead S&E efforts for BD opportunities across therapeutic
areas such as Oncology, Immunoscience, Cardiovascular and
Neuroscience
- Demonstrate scientific rigor while working closely with
internal stakeholders such as Enterprise Strategy, R&D and
Commercial and potential external partners
- Conduct initial triaging and assessment of inbound BD
opportunities
- Perform proactive search and external outreach in Oncology to
identify and initially qualify partnering or acquisition
opportunities fitting BMS BD priorities.
- Ability to multi-task in balancing large book of work while
ensuring consistent attention and prioritization of most critical
and visible projects.
- Serve as thought partner to facilitate formulation of
therapeutic area strategy (e.g., focus indications, target MOAs,
potential partners, etc.) while driving the execution of external
business development elements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver assessments of
external opportunities for BMS governance endorsement, including
supporting/leading scientific evaluations and due diligence
- Collaborate with Transaction BD and Corporate Development
colleagues to support agreement negotiation and contracting
- Support and participate in BD external partnering events (e.g.
BIO, BIO EU, BMS Partnering Days) and technical / scientific
meetings, and support the preparation of materials such as
presentations, FAQ and related documents.Qualifications &
Experience
- MD, PhD, PharmD, or other advanced degree in the biomedical
field required
- Minimum 5 years' experience within the biopharmaceutical
industry or related biotech/healthcare practice (e.g., consulting,
investment banking, venture capital); previous S&E/BD
experience or exposure desirable
- Scientific knowledge in specific therapeutic areas with deep
understanding of drug development processes from discovery to
regulatory approval
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
- A proven record of effectively supporting discovery, clinical
development or business development projects.
- Proven ability to efficiently lead multiple projects in a
matrixed environment with a high degree of independence
- Consistently deliver on commitments with a sense of
urgency
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate ideas and lead
others to accomplish challenging objectives
- Experience working with both internal and external
multidisciplinary teams/customers
- Can-do attitude and ability to work in a highly matrixed and
dynamic business environment
