Job Description:
As a key member of Fox Rothschild's management team, the Chief
Financial Officer will have primary oversight and responsibility
for the Firm's financial operations and will assist in the Firm's
financial growth, structure and direction, as well as work closely
with the Executive Committee, the Finance Committee and other
members of Senior Management in both operating and strategic
matters as needed. The Chief Financial Officer will be required to
develop an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of the
Firm's financial operations including, without limitation
accounting partner compensation, banking and billing and collection
functions. The Chief Financial Officer will manage all of the
Firm's financial operations on a daily basis.
More specific responsibilities include:
- Advise Senior Management on the financial implications of
business activities and make recommendations to advantageously
enhance the Firm's financial performance.
- Prepare special analyses/evaluations in support of major
business decisions.
- Promptly respond to inquiries from Partners regarding Firm
financial, compensation and tax matters.
- Collaboratively develop operating policies and procedures and
improvement programs for the attainment of business
objectives.
- Serve as key business partner and contributor to growth
strategies, business development programs and long-range planning,
ensuring that current revenue-generating strategies create Firm
value.
- Build, develop and lead a strong finance department. Ensure the
efficient day-to-day operation of the accounting and finance
functions through direct supervision and overall goal setting for
the department. Focus on integration of finance function into
mainstream business operations and planning.
- Preparation of both short- and long-term financial projections
and analysis.
- Improve and upgrade financial processes and procedures and
create infrastructure that understands the Firm's business focusing
on people, process and systems.
- Leader of the Firm's budgeting process.
- Coordinate filing of tax return and ensure proper maintenance
of accounting records and documentation in compliance with
statutory requirements and company policies. Manage the financial
tax and local reporting and ensure that it is timely and accurate.
Preparation of annual K-1 tax worksheets/schedules and coordination
with external accountants.
- Provide oversight to the Firm's equity partner compensation
programs and reporting.
- Provide insightful financial reporting packages for Senior
Management's use.
- Partner with the Firm's Chief Pricing Officer on establishing
protocols for the review, approval and management of alternative
fee arrangements and large client matters.
- Coordinate and drive best practices within the legal industry
surrounding client billing and collections.
- Represent the Firm to the external community, such as at
industry events and conferences.
- Manage the Firm's banking relationships across all areas of
need.
- Maintain and continuously develop strong network of external
contacts, leveraging professional relationships for the good of the
firm.
- Lead special project teams and perform special projects.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
In addition to the necessary skills and experience to perform the
responsibilities outlined above, there are a number of traits that
a successful candidate will possess.
Technical Requirements
- BS in Accounting, Finance or Business required. CPA and/or MBA
preferred.
- Experience as a Director of Finance, Controller or CFO.
- Minimum of 15 - 20 years progressive accounting and finance
experience.
- Professional services and legal industry experience strongly
preferred.
- Experience overseeing a multiple office environment.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Word and
PowerPoint.
- Strong appreciation for procedure, process and operational
excellence.
- Excellent presentation skills; strong executive presence and
public speaking ability.
- Strong network of external professional contacts.
- Ability to write accurately and succinctly. Personality
- Entrepreneurial with a self-starting personality; ability to
prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
simultaneously.
- Ability and inclination to roll up sleeves and dig in.
Dependence on and confidence in own abilities to get things
done.
